
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation visit to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia from June 15 to 19, aimed at enhancing India's bilateral and strategic partnerships with key global allies, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday.
The tour will begin in Cyprus on June 15–16, at the invitation of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over 20 years. While in Nicosia, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Christodoulides and also engage with business leaders in Limassol.
“The visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral relations and bolster India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union,” the MEA said.
In the second leg, PM Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, from June 16–17 at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to participate in the G-7 Summit. This will be PM Modi’s sixth consecutive G-7 appearance. He is expected to hold discussions with G-7 leaders, invited outreach participants, and heads of international bodies.
Key issues on the agenda include global energy security, technological innovation, the intersection of AI and energy, and quantum computing challenges. Several bilateral meetings are also planned on the sidelines of the summit.
On June 18, PM Modi will make a landmark visit to Croatia, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country. The trip is at the invitation of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovi? and marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations.
During his visit, PM Modi will meet with both Prime Minister Plenkovi? and Croatian President Zoran Milanovi?.
“The visit to Croatia will further underscore India’s commitment to strengthening ties with partners across the European Union,” the MEA noted.
