Jharkhand Declares Two-Day State Mourning After Minister Sudivya Kumar’s Death

Jharkhand has entered a period of mourning following the death of state minister Sudivya Kumar, who passed away at a hospital in Giridih on the morning of September 6. His death has sent shockwaves across political, administrative and social circles in the state.

The Jharkhand government has declared a two-day state mourning on September 6 and 7 as a mark of respect to the deceased minister. During the mourning period, the national flag will fly at half-mast at all government buildings across the state.

The government has also directed that no official functions, celebrations or state-level ceremonial programmes be organised during these two days. All state government offices will remain closed on September 7, while government programmes scheduled during the mourning period have been postponed.

Sudivya Kumar was handling several key portfolios in the Jharkhand government, including Urban Development and Housing, Higher and Technical Education, Tourism, Art and Culture, and Sports and Youth Affairs. His responsibilities covered several sectors closely linked to urban infrastructure, education, tourism and youth development.

News of his death quickly drew supporters, party workers and well-wishers to Giridih. Political leaders and public representatives from across party lines expressed grief over his passing and described it as a major loss for Jharkhand.

Condolences also poured in for the minister’s family, with leaders and supporters remembering his contribution to public life and praying for strength for his family to cope with the loss.

With the government declaring September 6 and 7 as days of state mourning, official activity across Jharkhand will remain subdued.
