London- India kicked off the London leg of their European tour in the FIH Pro League with a gripping 4-3 win over arch-rivals Pakistan at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
After conceding the opening goal, India fought back strongly with an impressive all-round display before surviving a late Pakistan comeback to register their third outright victory of the season. The win lifted India to seventh place in the Pro League standings.
Abhishek, Nilakanta Sharma, Sukhjeet Singh and Rajinder Singh were on target for India in a fiercely contested encounter.

Both teams began cautiously, testing each other's defence without creating many clear chances. Pakistan struck first in the eighth minute when Ahmad Nadeem converted a well-worked penalty-corner routine to hand his side a 1-0 lead.
India responded with sustained attacking pressure and earned three consecutive penalty corners at the end of the opening quarter. However, Pakistan goalkeeper Ali Raza produced an excellent save to deny skipper Harmanpreet Singh's drag flick, ensuring his team carried the lead into the second quarter.
India found their breakthrough in the 22nd minute. Dilpreet Singh's powerful effort was blocked by Raza, but Abhishek reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and level the scores. Just two minutes later, India earned another penalty corner, and Nilakanta Sharma capitalised on another rebound, driving the ball through the goalkeeper's legs to give India a 2-1 advantage.
Pakistan's goalkeeper continued to keep his side in the contest with crucial saves from penalty corners taken by Jugraj Singh and Harmanpreet Singh before halftime, as India went into the break with a slender one-goal lead.
Pakistan looked more aggressive after the interval and repeatedly threatened the Indian defence, but the backline remained composed. Amit Rohidas made a crucial interception to stop a dangerous counter-attack before India extended their lead in the 40th minute. Abhishek set up Sukhjeet Singh inside the circle, and the forward calmly finished to make it 3-1.

The final quarter produced high drama. After India's defence successfully repelled two successive Pakistan penalty corners, the hosts launched a swift counter-attack that earned them another penalty corner in the 52nd minute. Harmanpreet cleverly acted as a decoy, allowing Rajinder Singh to unleash a powerful strike past substitute goalkeeper Waqar for India's fourth goal.
Pakistan refused to give up. Captain Abu Mahmood reduced the deficit a minute later with a penalty-corner conversion that slipped through goalkeeper Suraj Karkera's legs. India then missed an opportunity to further extend their lead when Jugraj Singh failed to convert the team's 11th penalty corner in the 56th minute.
Pakistan added another goal with just 14 seconds remaining as Moin Shakeel scored from a rebound during a penalty-corner move, making it 4-3 and setting up a tense finish. However, India held firm in the closing moments to seal a memorable victory over their traditional rivals.
