Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania has directed officials to ensure that all Anganwadi centres in the district function regularly on working days and that women and children receive the benefits of government welfare schemes without delay.

The Deputy Commissioner also warned that strict action would be taken against officials and staff found negligent in implementing welfare programmes.

The directions were issued during a review meeting of the Social Welfare Department held at the Collectorate on Wednesday. Bhuvania reviewed the implementation of various schemes and examined data uploaded on the Poshan Tracker at the district, block and panchayat levels.

He directed officials to regularly cross-check the information uploaded on the portal with ground-level records to ensure that beneficiaries are actually receiving the intended benefits.

Particular emphasis was placed on supplementary nutrition. The Deputy Commissioner ordered 100 per cent distribution of supplementary nutrition at all Anganwadi centres and directed officials to closely monitor the process.

The meeting also reviewed the availability of basic facilities at the centres, including drinking water, electricity and functional toilets. Officials were instructed to address any deficiencies on priority so that the centres can provide a proper environment for women and children.

The implementation of several welfare schemes was also reviewed, including the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Take-Home Ration programme.

Officials also discussed the functioning of Malnutrition Treatment Centres (MTCs) and vaccination activities for women and children. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for stronger field-level monitoring to ensure that government programmes are being implemented effectively at the grassroots level.

Show-cause notices and salary deductions were ordered in cases of poor performance, while officials were directed to take timely corrective measures.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the department to complete the recruitment process for vacant posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers at the earliest, stressing that vacancies should not affect the delivery of essential services to beneficiaries.

Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, District Social Welfare Officer Kumari Ranjana, Child Development Project Officers, women supervisors and other officials attended the meeting.

The review comes with a focus on strengthening the delivery of nutrition, maternal and child welfare services through Anganwadi centres across Deoghar district.
