Jharkhand Health Conclave 2026 Concludes, AI and Tele-ICU to Expand Healthcare Access in Remote Areas

Ranchi: The two-day Jharkhand Health Conclave 2026 concluded on Thursday, with Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari describing the event as a new beginning towards making the state’s healthcare system modern, digital and technology-driven.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Ansari said Jharkhand would adopt high-tech technologies at the same pace as the rest of the world. He said his goal is to position Jharkhand among the leading states in the country in the healthcare sector.

The Health Minister said the government’s priority is to build a healthcare system where even the poorest patients can access modern and quality treatment within the state.

He said financially well-off people can travel to other states or countries for treatment, but such options are not easily available to poor patients. Therefore, the focus is on strengthening advanced healthcare facilities within Jharkhand itself.

AI and Tele-ICU to Expand Healthcare Access

Ansari said Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), referral hospitals, Sadar hospitals and medical colleges are being equipped with modern facilities. Strengthening ICUs, ventilators, MRI, CT scan and radiology services is also being prioritised.

He said technologies such as Tele-ICU, Tele-Radiology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help provide expert medical advice to patients in remote, rural and hilly areas.

According to the minister, technology can play an important role in reducing gaps in healthcare delivery and improving access to specialist services in underserved regions.

Focus on Investment and Modern Healthcare Infrastructure

The Health Minister thanked healthcare experts, scientists, companies and investors who participated in the conclave from different parts of the country and abroad.

He said the participants introduced Jharkhand to new technologies and opportunities in the healthcare sector. The suggestions and presentations made during the conclave, he added, would be examined seriously, with efforts to implement useful recommendations on the ground.

Ansari also welcomed investment in Jharkhand’s healthcare sector and said investors developing hospitals, medical institutions and modern healthcare facilities would be encouraged.

Jharkhand Eyes Medical Tourism Potential

The Health Minister also highlighted the expansion of specialised medical institutions as a priority.

He said the objective is not only to provide better treatment to patients from Jharkhand but also to develop the state as an important destination for medical tourism.

The government, he said, aims to develop specialised healthcare facilities that can reduce the need for patients from Jharkhand to travel to other states while also attracting patients from outside the state.

Experts Discuss AI and Digital Health

During the conclave, experts made presentations on AI, Tele-ICU, Tele-Radiology, digital health portals and data-driven healthcare systems.

Ansari said AI should not be viewed as a replacement for doctors and healthcare workers. Instead, he said, technology should strengthen their capabilities and expand their reach.

He emphasised that the biggest benefit of digital healthcare should reach patients living in remote areas of Jharkhand.

Shortage of Doctors and ICU Beds Remains a Challenge

Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department Ajay Kumar Singh highlighted the shortage of doctors, specialists, hospitals and ICU beds as major challenges for the state’s healthcare system.

He stressed the need to use digital healthcare and AI to expand access to medical services. He also discussed the potential of Tele-ICU services to provide specialist consultation to patients in remote areas and Tele-Radiology to extend specialised diagnostic services to underserved regions.

NHA CEO Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal spoke about integrating digital health services with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

Special Secretary Dr Neha Arora provided details about digital health portals launched during the conclave, while Additional Secretary Shashi Prakash Singh made a presentation on the possibilities of AI-based healthcare transformation in Jharkhand.

‘This Is the Beginning, the Goal Is Still Ahead’

At the closing ceremony, Health Minister Irfan Ansari said the biggest challenge now is to translate the knowledge, technology and expertise gained during the conclave into actual improvements on the ground.

He said patients’ needs would remain the government’s priority and that the focus would be on providing quality treatment with the support of modern technology.

Ansari thanked officials, doctors, healthcare workers, experts, scientists, companies and everyone associated with the organisation of the conclave.

He said the lessons from the two-day event would not remain limited to the conclave and that useful technologies and recommendations would be implemented in the healthcare system in a phased manner.

The state’s focus will now be on expanding digital healthcare, specialist medical services and modern healthcare infrastructure to people living in remote parts of Jharkhand.
