A special road safety campaign was conducted across Gumla district on Thursday to promote traffic awareness and help reduce road accidents.

The campaign was carried out under the direction of District Transport Officer (DTO) Satyendra Mahto. As part of the drive, two-wheeler riders found travelling without helmets were not only subjected to enforcement action but were also given road safety counselling.

During vehicle checks at the police station level, the riders were provided with road safety pamphlets and briefed on the importance of wearing helmets, using seat belts and following traffic regulations.

Officials explained that using basic safety equipment consistently can significantly reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities in the event of a road accident.

The campaign focused on combining enforcement with public awareness, with officials stressing that following traffic rules is essential not only to avoid penalties but also to protect the lives of motorists and other road users.
