A blood donation camp was organised at BIT Mesra’s Lalpur campus in Ranchi to mark National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, with the support of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Ram Pyari Super Speciality Hospital and the Marwari Yuva Manch.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and young volunteers, who came forward in large numbers to donate blood. A total of 170 units of blood were collected during the drive.
Organisers said the enthusiasm among the students continued to grow as blood donors were honoured with helmets as a gesture of appreciation for their contribution. A notable feature of the camp was the strong participation of female students, whose enthusiasm for voluntary blood donation was particularly encouraging.
Addressing the gathering, BIT Mesra Lalpur Director Dr Vijay Kumar Jha congratulated the blood donors and described them as ‘Rakt Veers’ for their contribution to saving lives. He also appreciated the efforts of all the volunteers and organisations involved in making the camp successful.
The energetic participation of the Marwari Yuva Manch volunteers was particularly appreciated by the organisers, who played an important role in coordinating the blood donation drive.
Dr Abhay Ranjan Srivastava, the camp coordinator, congratulated the participants and said that creating greater awareness about voluntary blood donation was the key to making such initiatives successful.
The event also saw the participation and support of Dr Sandeep Shahdeo, Shikha Priya, Dr Pradeep Munda, Rana Pratap Mishra, Ajay Kumar, Sumit Agrawal, Vishnu Agrawal, Vineet Kumar, Sahbaz Akhtar, Joshi David, Dr Mayank, Dr Mansi, Anamika, Narendra Kumar and Dr Somitro.
NSS volunteers including Ashika, Krishna, Abhinav, Shivendu, Swadha, Manya and Nimesh also made significant contributions to the organisation of the camp.
The organisers said the response demonstrated growing awareness among young people about voluntary blood donation and the importance of contributing to community healthcare needs.
