Actor Rahul Raj Singh has described his discharge by the Bombay High Court in the case related to late television actress Pratyusha Banerjee as a major legal relief, saying that he felt as though a heavy burden had been lifted after nearly a decade of legal and social pressure.

Speaking about the court's decision, Rahul said he was initially left speechless when his lawyer called to inform him about the High Court's order. He said he became emotional and was reminded of Pratyusha as well as his parents, who he said had also faced years of legal proceedings and social pressure.

According to Rahul, the past 10 years have been among the most difficult periods of his life. He said the case affected not only his personal life but also his acting career and work in production, while his family had to deal with repeated court proceedings, media attention and public discussion surrounding the case.

Recalling the final phone conversation he had with Pratyusha, Rahul said she was extremely distressed at the time and that he had tried to calm her down. He claimed he told her that he was on his way home and asked her not to take any step that could harm her.

Rahul said the two were dealing with personal and career-related pressures that, in his view, could have been addressed through conversation and support.

Speaking about Pratyusha's parents, Rahul said he understood their pain because they had lost their daughter. At the same time, he denied the allegations made against him and maintained that his relationship with Pratyusha was genuine and that he never wanted any harm to come to her.

The actor became emotional while remembering Pratyusha, describing her as more than an actress and saying he remembered her as an innocent and kind-hearted person.

“Even after 10 years, the pain of losing her remains,” Rahul said.

He expressed hope that following the High Court's decision and the evidence considered in the case, the matter would be viewed afresh and from a more balanced perspective.

The case dates back to 2016, when Pratyusha Banerjee, known for her role as Anandi in the television series ‘Balika Vadhu’, was found dead at her Mumbai residence. The circumstances surrounding her death led to legal proceedings involving Rahul Raj Singh.

Rahul's latest comments come after the Bombay High Court granted him relief in the long-running case. His discharge represents a significant development in the legal proceedings, while the emotional impact of Pratyusha's death continues to be acknowledged by those connected with the case.
