Giddi-Bhurkunda Damodar bridge to remain completely closed on September 8 for repair work

The Damodar bridge connecting Giddi and Bhurkunda will remain completely closed to traffic on Tuesday, September 8, due to construction and repair work, officials and those associated with the project said.

The bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. onwards to facilitate essential repair and construction work. Residents travelling between Bhurkunda and Giddi have been advised to complete any urgent work on Monday or make arrangements to use an alternative route.

According to contractor Rishu Kumar Gupta, necessary work on the Giddi bridge is scheduled to be carried out during the closure. He said the bridge may have to remain closed for several days depending on the progress of the work, so that the repairs can be completed properly and the structure strengthened.

The Giddi bridge is considered an important lifeline for residents and commuters as it connects areas of Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts. Thousands of people use the route for daily travel, making the temporary closure likely to cause inconvenience.
