Three Coaches of Mahananda Express Derail Near Arrah, No Injuries Reported

Three units of the Sikkim Mahananda Express derailed near Arrah Railway Station early Sunday morning, triggering concern among railway authorities and passengers. No casualties or passenger injuries were reported, officials said.

The incident involved train number 15483, the Alipurduar Junction-Delhi Sikkim Mahananda Express, which derailed on the up line around 200 metres from platform number two at Arrah station.

According to railway officials, the train's engine, SLR coach and H-1 coach were among the three units that went off the track.

The train had reached platform number two at around 4.12 a.m. during its journey towards Delhi. Officials said a technical problem during train operations apparently resulted in the signal shifting towards the Sasaram line.

The train then moved forward and subsequently derailed on the up line, around 200 metres from the station.

Railway personnel rushed to the site soon after receiving information about the incident and launched rescue, restoration and repair operations. Teams worked to reposition the affected units and restore the track and railway infrastructure.

A technical team has also been deployed to examine the track, signalling system and other equipment at the site. Officials are particularly looking into why the signal shifted towards the Sasaram line and how the train subsequently proceeded in that direction.

The derailment affected train movement in the area, with railway authorities working on a priority basis to clear the affected section and restore normal operations.

Officials said the technical assessment and restoration work are being carried out simultaneously, while the exact cause of the incident is being investigated.

The absence of casualties or injuries provided some relief amid the disruption, but railway officials are continuing to inspect the site before allowing normal train movement through the affected section.
