Swastik Raj, a student of Geeta Devi DAV Public School, Bhandarkola, Deoghar, has emerged as the Jharkhand state topper in the CBSE Class 10 Board Examination. The achievement comes after months of consistent preparation, regular studies and focused practice.
Rather than relying on last-minute preparation, Swastik said he began studying seriously from the start of the academic session. He believes that maintaining consistency and building strong concepts helped him perform confidently in the examination.
Swastik, who now aims to become a doctor, spoke exclusively to Shekhar Suman, Special Correspondent of Reporter Post, about his preparation strategy, academic journey and future plans.
‘I Am Extremely Happy With the Result’
Talking about his achievement, Swastik said he was extremely happy after securing the top position in Jharkhand. He said he had remained focused on his studies from the beginning and was particularly pleased that his hard work had translated into such an impressive result.
According to him, there was no single shortcut behind his success. Instead, regular study, completing the syllabus on time and maintaining focus throughout the year made the difference.
Consistency Was His Biggest Strength
Swastik said consistent hard work was the most important factor behind his performance. He tried to stay up to date with the syllabus and, during the final phase of preparation, concentrated particularly on previous-year question papers.
He said he preferred studying regularly rather than putting himself under excessive pressure immediately before the examinations.
Interestingly, Swastik did not follow a rigid daily timetable. Instead, he focused on subjects and topics that required more attention and continued studying until he was satisfied that he had understood them properly.
Sanskrit His Favourite, History More Challenging
Asked about his subjects, Swastik said Sanskrit was the easiest for him because he had a natural interest in the subject.
History, on the other hand, was comparatively challenging because of the large amount of information that needs to be remembered. He dealt with the subject by giving it additional attention during preparation.
Focused on Self-Study
Swastik said self-study played a major role in his preparation. While he sought guidance from teachers whenever necessary, he primarily depended on his own study and practice.
He praised the teachers at his school for providing consistent academic support. He also regularly attended Integrated Tests conducted at the school every Sunday, which helped him assess his preparation and identify areas that needed improvement.
He particularly mentioned Keshav Sir, who has been guiding him for a long time.
School and Teachers Played a Key Role
According to Swastik, his teachers played an important role in his success by providing direction and helping him overcome difficulties. He said their guidance allowed him to correct his mistakes and approach his studies with greater confidence.
He believes that academic success becomes easier when students have both disciplined self-study and access to teachers who can guide them at the right time.
‘I Want to Become a Doctor’
Swastik has already decided on his career path. He has opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and plans to focus on his studies with the aim of becoming a doctor.
His performance in Class 10 has given him a strong foundation as he moves into the higher secondary stage, where he will face a more demanding academic curriculum.
Advice to Other Students
Swastik's message to fellow students is simple: do not wait until the last moment to begin preparing.
He advised students to start studying from the beginning of the academic year, remain attentive in class and focus on understanding concepts rather than simply memorising answers.
He also stressed the importance of strong fundamentals, saying that a clear understanding of basic concepts in Classes 9 and 10 can make it easier to handle the more advanced syllabus in Classes 11 and 12.
Family Support Behind His Achievement
Swastik Raj is from Deoghar. His father, Ravishankar, works as a manager in an insurance company, while his mother, Kumari Priyanka, is a homemaker.
He said both his parents have consistently supported his education and preparation and provided him with the encouragement he needed throughout his academic journey.
When asked whom he would credit first for his success, Swastik placed his parents and teachers at the top of the list. He also expressed gratitude to everyone who encouraged him, guided him and supported him during his preparation.
For Swastik, the Class 10 result is not the end of an academic journey but the beginning of a new one. With his sights set on medicine, the Jharkhand topper now faces a new challenge: turning his academic success into a strong foundation for his dream of becoming a doctor.
