Jamshedpur: In a major step towards connecting Kolhan's business community with international markets, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), in collaboration with FICCI, hosted exclusive one-to-one business meetings with senior representatives of the Sharjah Airport International Free (SAIF) Zone, Government of Sharjah, UAE, at Hotel Vivanta, Golmuri, on July 9 and 10.
The interactive sessions were organised to introduce entrepreneurs from the region to investment opportunities and business expansion avenues in the United Arab Emirates through the SAIF Zone, one of the UAE's most established free trade zones renowned for its investor-friendly ecosystem.
The Sharjah delegation comprised Ali Al Mutawa and Shoaeb Ibrahim Khatib, while Sejal Singh represented FICCI. SCCI was represented by president Manav Kedia, treasurer Anil Ringasia, vice-president (Trade & Commerce) Anil Modi, vice-president (Taxation & Finance) Rajiv Agarwal, and executive committee members Pankaj Patel, Kamal Ladha and Bajrang Agarwal.
During the interactions, SAIF Zone officials highlighted that the free zone has been successfully operating for more than three decades and that this marked their fifth visit to Jamshedpur, reflecting the city's growing significance as a business destination.
They informed participants that over 8,500 companies operate from the SAIF Zone, nearly 60 per cent of them Indian enterprises. The delegation also noted that the UAE is home to 55 free zones offering world-class infrastructure and a highly business-friendly environment.
Officials outlined several advantages for Indian entrepreneurs planning to establish operations in Sharjah, including industrial plots, ready-to-use warehouses, labour accommodation and modern infrastructure on competitive terms.
They further emphasised key incentives such as zero customs duty, zero income tax, resident visa facilities, hassle-free bank account opening and company registration within just 60 minutes, positioning the SAIF Zone as a strategic gateway to Middle Eastern and global markets.
Entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors actively participated in the meetings, engaging in detailed discussions on investment opportunities, export potential and strategies for expanding their businesses internationally.
SCCI president Manav Kedia said such engagements provide a valuable platform for entrepreneurs from the Kolhan region to explore new markets and build global partnerships.
He expressed confidence that the opportunities offered by the Government of Sharjah would encourage more Indian businesses to establish a stronger presence in the Middle East.
The SCCI thanked FICCI and the Government of Sharjah for bringing international business opportunities directly to Jamshedpur and reaffirmed its commitment to organising similar initiatives that enhance the global competitiveness of businesses from the region.
