

Deoghar: The Deoghar Municipal Corporation has intensified preparations to ensure that Shravani Mela 2026 is conducted in a clean, safe and well-organised manner. As part of the preparations, a review meeting was held at the Municipal Corporation office on Thursday under the chairmanship of Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajneesh Kumar.The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements related to sanitation, solid waste management and garbage disposal during the month-long pilgrimage. Assistant Municipal Commissioners, Municipal Managers, Sanitation-cum-Food Inspectors, Sanitation Inspectors and officials of the corporation's sanitation agency attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Additional Municipal Commissioner directed officials to further strengthen the door-to-door waste collection system. He instructed that RFID tagging of all households be completed within the next 15 days to facilitate online monitoring of waste collection activities. He also asked officials to regularly monitor the progress and submit daily reports.Officials were directed to ensure regular and timely lifting of garbage from the mela area, Kanwariya route, temple premises, markets, major intersections, commercial establishments and residential localities. The corporation was also instructed to keep all sanitation vehicles in proper working condition and make arrangements for additional vehicles whenever required.
Rajneesh Kumar further directed that bleaching powder be sprayed in the areas after garbage collection to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of infections. He emphasised the need for daily clearance of waste from large garbage bins, keeping dumper placers fully operational and conducting an effective night-time cleaning drive.The meeting also stressed the deployment of an adequate number of sanitation vehicles during the second shift and the early implementation of the RFID-based online tracking system. Officials were further instructed to remove encroachments along roadsides, market areas and the Kanwariya route, while ensuring that the convenience of pilgrims remains the top priority.Concluding the meeting, the Additional Municipal Commissioner made it clear that no negligence in sanitation arrangements would be tolerated during Shravani Mela 2026. He directed all officials and the sanitation agency to work in close coordination and ensure clean surroundings, safe conditions and better civic amenities for the lakhs of devotees expected to visit Baba Dham during the festival.
