

Deoghar: Preparations for the State Shravani Mela 2026 came under detailed review at a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania on Monday. The meeting assessed department-wise progress on security arrangements, basic amenities and infrastructure to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments and executive engineers to complete every pending task before the formal commencement of the fair. He said no negligence would be tolerated in providing safe and convenient facilities to the lakhs of Kanwariyas expected to arrive from across the country and abroad.
The meeting reviewed the preparedness of the Baba Temple administration, Municipal Corporation, Health Department, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Transport Department, Building Division, National Highways, Electricity Department, Work Division, Road Construction Department and the Information and Public Relations Department. Officials were instructed to complete sanitation, toilets, accommodation, parking, drainage, road construction and other essential works within the stipulated time.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for uninterrupted and safe power supply throughout the fair and directed officials to strengthen backup electricity arrangements. He also asked departments to ensure smooth and safe offering of holy water by pilgrims by putting all necessary facilities in place before the fair begins.He further instructed officials to maintain round-the-clock cleanliness, hygienic toilets, safe drinking water and adequate accommodation across the mela area. Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, he said all agencies must work together to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience during the month-long event.
Warning against delays or substandard work, the Deputy Commissioner said all preparations would be monitored regularly and strict disciplinary action would be taken against officials or engineers found negligent.The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Sulochana Meena, Temple In-charge-cum-Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, District Planning Officer Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi, the DMFT team and senior officials from the concerned departments.
