Mumbai- Actress Huma Qureshi has revealed that playing a mute and deaf assassin in her latest film, Baby Do Die Do, pushed her far beyond her comfort zone, as she had to perform without relying on what she considers her greatest strength—dialogue delivery.
Speaking to IANS, Huma said she has always enjoyed experimenting with accents and expressive dialogues, but director Nachiket Samant deliberately removed that aspect from her performance to challenge her as an actor.
"I think dialogue delivery is my biggest strength. I love doing different accents. But this time, the director said, 'We'll take away your strongest power.' Instead, I got to explore body language, intensity through my eyes and sign language," Huma said.

She admitted the role was demanding but added that the experience was immensely rewarding.
"It was definitely a challenge, but I really, really enjoyed it," she added.
Earlier, director Nachiket Samant had explained that making Huma's mute and deaf character believable depended entirely on her performance.
"All the authenticity came from Huma. Writing a strong character is one thing, but you still need a great actor to bring it to life," he said.
The filmmaker also described removing dialogues from the character as an exciting creative decision.
"Huma is a completely prepared actor, but taking away her dialogues became the perfect challenge. It pushed her into a space I hadn't seen before, and she delivered brilliantly," Samant said.
Alongside Huma, Baby Do Die Do features Sikander Kher, Chunky Pandey, Seema Pahwa, Rachit Singh and Marudhar Shekhawat in key roles.
The film has been produced by Saqib Saleem under the banner Saleem Siblings in association with Pune 04 Films and was released on July 3.
