Three Arrested, Nine Stolen Motorcycles Recovered in Deoghar Police Crackdown


Deoghar: Deoghar Police have busted a motorcycle theft gang and arrested three persons during an anti-crime checking drive in Palajori. Nine stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession, including vehicles linked to theft cases registered at Madhupur and Nala police stations. Police are verifying the ownership of the remaining recovered motorcycles.
According to police, the operation was conducted on Friday evening under the direction of Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar as part of a special anti-crime and anti-loitering drive ahead of the Shravani Mela.
During checking near Anarkali High School in Palajori, police spotted a man sitting on a motorcycle in suspicious circumstances. On seeing the police team, he attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.
The accused was identified as Sanjay Char, a resident of Bindapathar in Jamtara district. He failed to produce any documents for the motorcycle he was riding. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed that he, along with an associate, used to steal motorcycles and sell them at low prices.Police said Sanjay revealed that he worked with Dhiren Mandal of Pathraul in Deoghar district to steal motorcycles from different places. The stolen vehicles were allegedly sold for Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, and the proceeds were shared among the gang members. He also disclosed the involvement of Kedar Mandal of Chitra, who allegedly helped dispose of the stolen motorcycles.Based on Sanjay's statement, police arrested Dhiren Mandal and recovered one Apache and one Pulsar motorcycle from his possession. Further interrogation led to the arrest of Kedar Mandal, from whom six more stolen motorcycles were recovered.The recovered vehicles include Super Splendor, Apache, Pulsar, Glamour, Passion Pro, Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe motorcycles. Some of the motorcycles were without registration numbers, while one had its chassis and engine numbers erased, indicating an attempt to conceal its identity. Police are investigating the ownership of all recovered vehicles and their links to other theft cases.
The operation was carried out by Palajori Station House Officer Sanjay Kumar, Pathraul Station House Officer Dilip Bilung, Madhupur police officers Ashok Kumar and Sandeep Bhagat, along with personnel from Chitra Police Station and the armed police force. Police said further interrogation of the accused is expected to lead to more recoveries and the detection of additional vehicle theft cases.
