Jamshedpur : Large parts of Jharkhand are set to witness an active spell of weather over the coming days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the state till May 12.
The weather office said isolated places across Jharkhand are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds of 40 to 50 Kmph on May 8 and May 9.
Similar conditions are expected on May 10 and May 11 over almost the entire state, except the north-western region.
Thunderstorm activity is again likely at isolated places across Jharkhand on May 12.
Officials said the prevailing weather pattern is being triggered by moisture-bearing winds and unstable atmospheric conditions over eastern India.
While the expected rain and cloud cover may bring respite from rising summer temperatures, the weather department has cautioned people against exposure during lightning activity and strong winds.
“People should remain vigilant during thunderstorm hours, particularly in open areas and rural pockets where lightning incidents are more vulnerable. Farmers and commuters are advised to monitor weather updates regularly,” a senior weather official said.
According to meteorological data, maximum temperatures during the past 24 hours remained relatively comfortable for this time of the season, hovering between 29 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius at most places across Jharkhand.
Weather experts believe intermittent rain and thunderstorm activity may continue to keep temperatures under check over the next few days.
