Saiee M. Manjrekar on Playing the Long Game: “Honesty to the Craft Matters Most”

Mumbai: Saiee M Manjrekar says she is focused on growing steadily as an actor, prioritizing meaningful roles over short-lived trends to build a lasting career.

Reflecting on her approach, she shared that patience is key in the profession. Rather than chasing what’s currently popular, she prefers projects that leave a lasting impact and contribute to her evolution as a performer.

She emphasized her desire to keep improving with every film, even if it means moving at her own pace. For her, staying true to the craft and choosing stories she genuinely connects with is what ensures longevity.

On the professional front, Saiee will next appear in India House, a period film set in pre-independence India. The project, backed by Ram Charan in his first production venture, is being shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu and promises a large-scale historical narrative.

Talking about her experience on the film, she noted that working in a different time setting brings a unique creative challenge. From language and fashion to emotional expression, everything requires deeper observation and a more nuanced performance style.

Daughter of filmmaker-actor Mahesh Manjrekar, Saiee added that the costumes and overall environment on such sets play a crucial role in helping actors stay immersed in their characters, making the process both enriching and educational.

The 24-year-old made her debut with a small role in the Marathi film Kaksparsh and was most recently seen in Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi, directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. The Telugu action drama features Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and Vijayashanti, among others, and serves as a spiritual successor to the 1990 film Karthavyam, with Vijayashanti reprising her iconic role.
