Gas Pipeline Damaged During Repair, Panic in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur

Ranchi: Panic gripped the Nivaranpur area on Tuesday after a gas pipeline belonging to GAIL India was damaged during repair work beneath a flyover. The work was being carried out by L&T company. Following the damage, gas started leaking rapidly, triggering fear among local residents.

Realising the severity of the situation, the district administration promptly evacuated nearby homes and shops as a precautionary measure. Fire brigade teams reached the spot quickly, but GAIL’s technical experts arrived after nearly two hours. The team succeeded in shutting down the damaged pipeline and initiated repair operations.

Local residents said the strong smell of gas made breathing difficult, forcing people to flee their homes. The area has been sealed off, and the administration has ordered a detailed probe into the incident. Notices are being prepared to seek clarifications from both L&T and GAIL regarding the negligence.
