Gumla: The Central Bureau of Communications organized an awareness ceremony in the premises of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Ghatshila during which Padamshri Dr Janum Singh Soy was also felicitated. Dr Soy was presented a shawl and a plant by the Central Bureau of Communications.
A beautiful statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda made of wood and also by the students of Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya was presented to him. Speaking on the occasion Dr Janum Singh Soy said that getting the Padma Shri award is like a dream but he had not even dreamed of getting the award but overall he is overwhelmed to have received this award.
Dr Soy also sang songs written by him during the event. He urged that today’s young generation should try to make the earth a beautiful place to live by paying special attention to education and environmental protection.
Akshay Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of Jharkhand said that it is a matter of great pride for Jharkhand that a scholar like Dr Soy from Ghatshila has been selected for this important award and said that all have a responsibility to learn and be inspired by Dr Soy’s life and achievements.
Addressing the gathering, Shahid Rahman, Head of the Office of the Central Bureau of Communications Ranchi said that all Jharkhand residents are feeling proud of Dr Soy’s achievement.
Shahid Rehman also called for the protection of the environment and said that apart from polluting the air, water and earth, the human race has also done the work of polluting space by leaving thousands of satellites in space and maintaining eco-balance along with development.
A drama was also presented by the girls of Kasturba Gandhi Ghatshila on women empowerment while successful participants of elocution competition etc were also rewarded.
