District administration inks MoU with Better World Foundation for malnutrition survey

Ranchi: Door to door survey will soon be started regarding malnutrition among children in rural areas of the Ranchi district.

An MoU has been signed between Ranchi District Administration and the organization Better World Foundation regarding this. The District Social Welfare Officer on behalf of the district administration and the Director on behalf of the organization signed the MoU. This project will be started from Khelari and Budhmu blocks of the Ranchi district. On a pilot basis, this project will run for 1 year in these 2 blocks. Nutrition vehicle will be run to eliminate malnutrition in 24 panchayats of these two blocks.

Survey and assessment of malnutrition among children will be done through door-to-door nutrition camps in Khelari and Budhmu blocks. Detailed door-to-door survey for all children in the age group of 6 to 60 months and anthropometric screening to identify malnourished children with the help of WHO will be conducted in each Gram Panchayat. Nutrition camps will be organized at gram panchayat level for at least 15 days in each panchayat through mobile vans. Along with this, healthy and nutritious food will also be provided to malnourished children.

Apart from this, necessary changes in behavior and nutrition among parents will also be given. Under this project, a knowledge bank related to the situation of malnutrition in the district will be established. At present, after assessing the nutrition camps in each panchayat of 2 blocks, nutrition camps will also be organized as per the requirement.
