Employees of the Animal Husbandry Department staged a one-day protest at the district Animal Husbandry office in Gumla under the leadership of the Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation, Gumla, demanding payment of three months’ pending salaries and the fulfilment of other service-related demands.

The protest was chaired by Amit Kumar Bhagat. The employees submitted a memorandum to the District Animal Husbandry Officer, urging the authorities to release their pending salaries before Durga Puja.

Their demands included the cancellation of Resolution No. 749, promotions and Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) benefits for all eligible employees, and withdrawal of the decision to abolish posts. The memorandum was also addressed to the Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department and the Director of Animal Husbandry, Ranchi.

Federation district secretary Bhushan Kumar said a delegation had met the Director of Animal Husbandry in Ranchi on October 13 to discuss the pending salary payments and other demands.

According to him, the director assured the delegation that orders for salary disbursement would be issued as soon as the file was received from the Finance Department.

Bhushan Kumar further said the federation would file a writ petition in the Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi against the abolition of employees’ posts and the alleged irregular grant of promotions and salary benefits to veterinary doctors.

He alleged that the government had issued a resolution contrary to the established rules, which could adversely affect the recruitment process. The employees condemned the decision to abolish posts and reiterated their demand for the immediate release of pending salaries.

Those present at the protest included Vijay Nayak, Saurabh Kumar, Puran Mahto, Ayush Kerketta, Indrani Devi, Anita Hansda Murmu, Rani Deepika Oraon, Lepa Munda, Francis Ekka, Rashmi Manohar Kachhap, Ram Bhagat, Sunil Tiwari and Hemant Kachhap, among others.
