The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gumla, has intensified preparations for the National Lok Adalat scheduled for December 12, with a focus on resolving the maximum number of pending cases through mutual settlement.
A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ajit Kumar Singh, Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of DLSA, Gumla. The meeting reviewed preparations for the event and issued necessary directions to judicial and administrative officials to ensure the effective disposal of cases.
Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahato, Superintendent of Police Harish Bin Zama, judicial officers, representatives of various departments and Gumla Bar Association president Shravan Sahu attended the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Singh directed judicial officers to identify pending cases suitable for settlement in their respective courts and encourage the parties involved to resolve disputes through mutual consent. He emphasised coordinated efforts to ensure that as many cases as possible are settled during the upcoming Lok Adalat.
Highlighting its importance, Singh said the National Lok Adalat provides a simple, accessible, speedy and cost-effective mechanism for dispute resolution. Settlements through mutual agreement help save time and money, reduce the burden on courts and maintain cordial relations between disputing parties.
Focus on Banking, Family and Other Disputes
The meeting emphasised the settlement of pending and pre-litigation cases across several categories, including bank loan recovery, electricity and telecommunications disputes, motor accident compensation claims, matrimonial and family disputes, labour disputes, compoundable criminal cases and cheque dishonour cases.
Officials from the concerned departments were instructed to identify eligible cases, complete the necessary preparations and coordinate with the parties concerned to facilitate settlements.
Singh urged judicial and administrative officials to work together to make the National Lok Adalat successful in the public interest. He also stressed the need to ensure effective case disposal and raise public awareness about the benefits of the initiative.
Officials attending the meeting assured the DLSA of their full cooperation and active participation in the preparations for the December 12 event.
