Actress Rashmika Mandanna has announced an initiative to support 400 families at a time for three months, hoping to help them save money on groceries and use their savings to plan for a better future.
The actress, who plays Jayamma in the upcoming period drama ‘Ranabaali’, said her character shares several similarities with her real-life personality, including a desire to help those in need.
Sharing the news on social media, Rashmika revealed that she had previously kept her charitable activities private but decided to speak about them to encourage others to contribute to society.
She said she plans to continue the initiative over the next year, extending support to 400 families for three months at a time. The assistance is intended to ease their grocery expenses and allow them to save for future needs.
"There is something in the characters you play that influence you," Rashmika wrote, explaining that Jayamma reflects a part of her own personality. She added that she hoped sharing her initiative would inspire others to perform small acts of kindness.
Emphasising that helping others does not always require a grand gesture, the actress said the smiles of the families she supports make her efforts worthwhile despite the struggles and challenges she has faced during her career.
The initiative comes ahead of the release of ‘Ranabaali’, a period action drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan.
Set against the backdrop of the Madras famine of 1876–78, the film features Vijay Deverakonda as Ranabaali, a warrior who fights against British rule, while Rashmika portrays Jayamma, his wife and companion.
