Parineeti Chopra takes on sand mafia in Netflix thriller ‘Reporting Live’

Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra is set to take on the role of a determined field reporter in the upcoming Netflix thriller ‘Reporting Live’, a film that delves into the dangerous world of illegal sand mining and the criminal network operating behind it.

The actress, who recently made her OTT debut with the streaming series ‘Shaque: Trust No One’, will share screen space with veteran actors Shekhar Suman and Amol Palekar in the film. The cast also includes Deven Bhojani and Adil Hussain.

In ‘Reporting Live’, Parineeti plays a journalist chasing a story that leads her into the murky world of illegal sand mining. As she digs deeper, she finds herself up against a ruthless sand mafia determined to keep its operations — and the crimes linked to them — hidden from public view.

The film is directed and co-written by Dhruv Tripathi, who has developed the project over several years with co-writer Mihir Jadhav.

“It feels incredibly special to finally announce ‘Reporting Live’. I’ve lived with this film for seven years, from writing it with Mihir to bringing it to the screen, so seeing it ready to go out into the world is quite surreal,” Tripathi said.

He said the film was conceived as a grounded thriller that would remain connected to ordinary people while exploring a high-stakes story.

“I wanted to make a thriller that feels grounded and real, while never losing sight of the ordinary people at the heart of the story,” the director added, expressing excitement about the film's upcoming release on Netflix.

Producer Partha Kiran Thakur said the film's story demanded both a strong ensemble and a clear vision in terms of execution.

“The stakes are high, both in the story we are telling and in the scale of its execution. We had a very clear vision for this film, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to see that vision come to life through such a powerful ensemble,” Thakur said.

She also highlighted the unusual casting combinations in the film, particularly the pairing of Parineeti Chopra and Deven Bhojani.

“We’re particularly thrilled to see Parineeti Chopra and Deven Bhojani come together on screen in a pairing audiences have never seen before, portraying characters that are unlike anything they have played previously,” she said.
