Adaa Khan says ‘The Lift’ gave her a ‘completely different high’

Actress Adaa Khan says her latest project ‘The Lift’ offered her a refreshing change from her previous work, giving her the opportunity to explore a new setting, new dynamics and characters with greater psychological depth.

Sharing her experience with IANS, the actress said the show brought a sense of novelty to her everyday routine and allowed her to enjoy the process of working in an environment she had not experienced for some time.

“Every day we had a new experience. There was a sense of freshness, and I was experiencing something new myself. I hadn’t really got an opportunity to do something like this in a long time. This show gave me a completely different high, and I had so much fun working on it,” Adaa said.

The ‘Naagin’ actress also spoke about her equation with co-star Pratik Sehajpal. Describing herself as an introvert who generally takes time to get comfortable with people, Adaa said Pratik’s easygoing personality helped her settle in with the team.

“Pratik is the kind of person who breaks the ice himself. He is a very chilled-out person. You can keep chatting and having fun with him. I think he is one of the few people with whom I didn’t take much time to open up,” she said.

Adaa also praised Ishika Shahi for her involvement throughout the production, saying she was deeply impressed by her work.

“I think I can say that I was extremely impressed by her work, or maybe even mesmerised by it. I was just in awe of her throughout the entire shoot,” she said.

For Adaa, one of the most interesting aspects of ‘The Lift’ was the complexity of its characters. She said the show explores the idea that people are rarely defined entirely by their good or bad qualities, with psychological motivations adding different layers to their personalities.

“Every person has both good and bad qualities. I think there is a psychological aspect behind every character. I don’t want to reveal too much, but there are a lot of layers to every character, and it was really interesting to explore them,” the actress said.

The show's confined setting also had an unexpected impact on the cast’s relationships. Since the actors spent long hours together inside the lift set, from the start of the day until pack-up, they had plenty of time to interact beyond their scripted scenes.

Adaa said those extended hours helped the cast relax, chat and gradually develop a unique camaraderie, creating a “very different kind of bonding” among them.
