Mumbai: Actress Chetna Pande has revealed that she was going through one of the most difficult phases of her life while filming her latest horror movie, "Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past." She said her personal struggles helped her connect deeply with her character, Sunheri.
Speaking to IANS, Chetna shared that she was emotionally shattered and mentally disturbed when the film went on floors. Despite the challenges, she believes those experiences prepared her for the emotionally demanding role.
"I feel life itself prepared me for this character. When I started shooting, I was going through a very difficult phase personally. I was emotionally shattered and mentally disturbed. But I believe everything happens for a reason. Sometimes life puts us through hardships because it is preparing us for something meaningful," she said.

The actress explained that the emotional turmoil she experienced closely mirrored the journey of her character, allowing her to bring authenticity to the performance.
"The most emotional and challenging period of my life coincided with the shooting of this film. In many ways, my personal journey reflected Sunheri's journey. I drew inspiration from my own experiences and channelled my pain into the character. The emotions I carried within myself became a part of Sunheri's story," she added.
Recalling her reaction to being offered the film, Chetna said she immediately accepted because it was being directed by filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, whom she described as one of the pioneers of Indian horror cinema.

She praised the lasting legacy of the original "Haunted," calling it one of India's first major 3D horror films. According to Chetna, the film continues to enjoy immense popularity, with audiences still remembering its story and songs years after its release.
"In today's world, where people's attention spans have become so short, it's remarkable for a film to stay in the hearts of audiences for so many years. That kind of lasting connection can only happen when there is genuine magic on screen," she said.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt, "Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past" also stars Mimoh Chakraborty and was released in theatres on June 12, 2026.
