Huma Qureshi Opens Up on Playing a Silent Assassin in ‘Baby Do Die Do’

Mumbai: Actress Huma Qureshi says portraying the lead character in her upcoming thriller *Baby Do Die Do* pushed her far beyond her comfort zone, as the role demanded powerful expressions without the support of dialogue.

In the film, Huma plays India's first desi contract killer—a deaf and mute woman whose quiet exterior hides a dangerous and mysterious past.

Reflecting on the experience, Huma said the role challenged her emotionally and creatively.

"Baby challenged me in ways I didn't expect. She doesn't rely on words, so every emotion had to come from within. There were days when saying nothing felt much harder than delivering pages of dialogue. I just hope people walk into the theatre without trying to solve the film too early and simply go on the journey with her," she said.

Set against the backdrop of the criminal underworld, *Baby Do Die Do* is a suspense thriller filled with secrets, betrayal and revenge. The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into a gripping story where every twist deepens the mystery. Huma leads the film with a performance driven almost entirely by expressions and body language.

The film also stars Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, Rachit Singh, Marudha Shekhawat, Vidya Malvade, Arun Kushwah and Himanshu Malik.

Sharing his experience, Sikandar Kher said one of the film's biggest strengths is that every character hides something beneath the surface.

"What I enjoyed most was that nobody in this film is exactly who they appear to be. As an actor, that's always fun because every scene has another layer to it. I think audiences will enjoy putting the pieces together as the story unfolds," he said.

Chunky Panday added that the screenplay kept surprising him throughout.

"I've always believed the best thrillers are the ones that stay with you after they're over. That's exactly what I felt when I read this script. It keeps drawing you in, and just when you think you've understood it, it surprises you again," he said.

Directed by Nachiket Samant and produced by Saqib Saleem, *Baby Do Die Do* is backed by Saleem Siblings in association with Pune 04 Film. The thriller is scheduled to hit cinemas on **July 3, 2026**.
