Mumbai- Actress Mithila Palkar says her upcoming Netflix series *Super Subbu* is much more than a comedy, describing it as a story that beautifully combines humour with authentic human emotions and meaningful relationships.
The trailer of the Telugu series was unveiled on Wednesday. Starring Sundeep Kishan, Mithila Palkar and Murali Sharma, *Super Subbu* follows Subramanyam "Subbu" Chillukuri Rao, a schoolteacher who is transferred to the fictional village of Maakipur—an assignment no teacher wants. Hoping to prove himself, Subbu arrives ready to teach, only to discover that he has been assigned the challenging task of conducting sex education classes.
Sharing what attracted her to the project, Mithila said the series explores relationships, acceptance and personal growth beneath its light-hearted and humorous surface.

"What drew me to *Super Subbu* was the way it balances humour with genuine human emotions. Beneath all the chaos, curiosity and laughter, there is a story about relationships, acceptance and people learning to understand each other better. The world that Mallik Ram has created feels unique, vibrant and full of life, and every character brings something memorable to the journey," she said.
The actress also described working with Netflix once again as a special experience. Having featured in one of the platform's earliest Indian originals, *Little Things*, she said being part of Netflix's first Telugu original series felt like completing a full circle.
"Being part of a story that is both entertaining and meaningful was incredibly exciting. Collaborating with Netflix always feels like a homecoming. I was a part of one of their first Netflix originals, *Little Things*, and now I'm part of their first Telugu original, *Super Subbu*. Our association seems to have come full circle. I'm excited for audiences across the world to discover the charm of Maakipur," she added.
Sundeep Kishan said the series tackles a subject that is often considered uncomfortable with honesty, warmth and plenty of humour.
"*Super Subbu* takes a subject that people often hesitate to talk about and approaches it with humour, warmth and honesty. Subbu is someone who starts out trying to solve one problem and somehow ends up with five more," he said.
According to the actor, Subbu's struggles range from professional setbacks and relationship issues to family expectations and misunderstandings with the villagers, creating a series of humorous situations.

"Maakipur is filled with eccentric characters and every misunderstanding adds to the chaos and comedy, keeping you wondering how Subbu will get himself out of it. Working with such a wonderful cast and collaborating with Netflix on its first Telugu original series made the experience even more special. I can't wait for audiences to meet Subbu and join him on this unforgettable adventure," he added.
Written by Mallik Ram, Ramesh Eligeti and Shivani Dhobal, and produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Bharath Laxmipati under Chilaka Productions, *Super Subbu* promises a coming-of-age story filled with humour, emotion and the quirky charm of small-town life.
The series will premiere on Netflix on July 2.
