‘Tanu Weds Manu’ Franchise Set for Comeback, Third Film to Begin Production in 2026

Mumbai: Fans of the popular Tanu Weds Manu series have reason to celebrate, as the third instalment, “Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter,” is set to go on floors in 2026.

The announcement came as part of a major content slate unveiled by Eros Innovation. The upcoming film will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar, known for his work on the web series Heeramandi and The Empire. The project will be co-produced with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited.

The film is part of Eros Innovation’s ambitious new content strategy, which revolves around three key initiatives aimed at expanding original stories, iconic franchises and classic cinema.

The first initiative, Eros Brahmand, is a mythology-inspired cinematic universe featuring nine interconnected titles, including Nandi – War of Kailasa, Dwaarka: Gateway to the Universe, Vimaan Wars, Mahabharat 5000 A.D., Yakshinis, Brahmarakshak, Garuda, Kumbhayanna and Mansa Devi. Together, these projects will create a shared universe inspired by Indian mythology and folklore.

The second initiative, Eros Universe, focuses on expanding some of the company’s most-loved film properties. Along with Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter, the slate includes Phobia, English Vinglish, Desi Boyz, Rangeela and Tere Naam. These franchises are expected to be expanded across films, animation, microdramas and character-driven content.

The third initiative, Eros Remastered, will begin with a reimagined version of Kochadaiiyaan. The film, starring Rajinikanth, will be restored and reworked under the creative leadership of Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Announcing the slate, Kishore Lulla said the company aims to bring together mythology-inspired stories, beloved film franchises and classic cinema to create content that appeals to audiences across generations and platforms.

Co-Founder and Co-President Ridhima Lulla said the new slate reflects the company’s ambition to revisit familiar stories while exploring fresh and innovative storytelling formats.
