Heavy Rain Forecast Over Jharkhand on June 12-13

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand is set to witness a spell of intense weather activity with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall in several districts on June 12 and 13 , even as conditions become favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon into the state within the next few days. According to the forecast, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Giridih, Bokaro, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan on June 12.

On June 13, heavy rainfall is expected in Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, Pakur and Godda districts. The weather office has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.  Wind speeds of 50-60 Kmph are likely over Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Khunti and Ramgarh districts, while other parts of the state may experience winds of 40-50 Kmph.

The anticipated rain spell comes after several districts experienced hot and humid conditions over the past few days. Residents have welcomed the forecast, hoping it will bring relief from the sultry weather. “The humidity has been unbearable, especially during the afternoon hours. A good spell of rain will provide much-needed comfort,” said a resident of Ranchi. Another resident from Jamshedpur remarked, “Farmers have been eagerly waiting for consistent rainfall. The arrival of the monsoon will be beneficial for agricultural activities.”

Meteorologists said the weather pattern indicates the gradual strengthening of monsoon currents over eastern India. Conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal during the next three to four days.  Once the monsoon enters the state, rainfall activity is expected to become more widespread.

The IMD has advised people to remain alert during thunderstorm activity, avoid taking shelter under trees, and stay away from electric poles and waterlogged areas during lightning events. Authorities have also urged residents to keep track of weather updates as localized heavy downpours may lead to temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas.
