New Delhi – As tensions between Israel and Iran escalated into the fifth consecutive day of conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday announced that Indian students in Tehran have been safely relocated, while some Indian nationals have exited Iran via the Armenia border.
Amid intensifying hostilities, Iran launched multiple missile attacks on Israel, prompting air raid sirens across Haifa, the Golan Heights, and several northern Israeli towns, according to official Israeli military sources.
“In light of the evolving security situation, Indian students in Tehran have been evacuated from the city through arrangements made by the Indian Embassy,” the MEA said in a statement. “Other Indian residents with access to independent transportation have also been advised to leave the city.”
The Ministry further confirmed that several Indians were assisted in leaving Iran through its border with Armenia. The Indian Embassy remains in constant contact with the community and is providing all possible assistance. Additional advisories are expected based on developments.
Earlier in the day, the Indian Embassy in Iran issued a public advisory urging all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Tehran to relocate to safer areas using their own means of transport. The embassy requested individuals to stay in contact and share their current location and contact details.
To support evacuation efforts, the Embassy also issued emergency helpline numbers:
The heightened alert follows a warning from Israel, which advised civilians to evacuate central Tehran — signaling an impending escalation in military action.
Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israeli military, urged residents of District C, a northeastern Tehran neighborhood, to evacuate immediately. “In the coming hours, the Israeli army will operate in this area to target military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime,” he posted on X. “Remaining there puts your life in danger.”
District C is home to numerous government offices, state institutions, and intelligence facilities, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that airstrikes had targeted weapons shipments and surface-to-air missile launchers advancing from western Iran toward Tehran earlier on Tuesday.
