WWDC 2026: Apple Unveils Smarter Siri AI, Enhanced Apple Intelligence and Stronger Child Safety Features

Cupertino, California: Apple has announced a major software overhaul at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, introducing the next generation of Apple Intelligence, a significantly upgraded Siri AI, and a range of new parental control features aimed at creating safer digital experiences for children.

The updates will roll out across Apple's ecosystem, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27, bringing improvements in performance, design, privacy, and usability.

Presenting the updates at WWDC, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, said the company is focused on making its devices more capable and intuitive while maintaining strong privacy protections.

At the centre of the announcement is Siri AI, a completely reimagined version of Apple's voice assistant. Powered by the latest Apple Intelligence architecture, Siri can now understand content displayed on a user's screen, access personal context across apps, and search the web for real-time information to provide more accurate and useful responses.

Apple said the upgraded AI system will also enhance everyday tasks across its apps. Users will be able to edit photos more intelligently, navigate multiple browser tabs more efficiently in Safari, create content using Image Playground, and enjoy smarter communication tools in Messages and Mail.

The company also placed a strong emphasis on child safety. New parental controls will allow families to set up child accounts with age-appropriate protections from the outset. Through the Setup Assistant, parents can decide which apps are accessible and maintain oversight of future app installations.

Communication safety features have also been expanded. Parents can now require approval before children add new contacts, while the system can automatically intervene when explicit or violent content is detected in conversations.

Apple Watch users are set to receive several notable upgrades as well. A redesigned dynamic app grid will highlight five Siri-recommended apps, a new tap gesture will provide quicker access to Smart Stack widgets, and a revamped Find My app will combine device, item and people tracking into a single interface.

Developers can begin testing the new software immediately through Apple's developer programme, while a public beta version is scheduled to launch next month ahead of the wider rollout later this year.
