New Delhi: The Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA) is being hailed by industry leaders as a landmark initiative that could reshape India’s industrial landscape by creating world-class manufacturing infrastructure and attracting large-scale investments.
The Central government has issued guidelines for the Rs 33,660 crore BHAVYA Central Sector Scheme, under which 100 industrial parks will be developed across the country. In the first phase, 50 proposals will be selected for financial assistance to establish investment-ready industrial hubs with modern infrastructure.
According to the India Cellular and Electronics Association, the scheme marks a significant shift from fragmented and supply-driven industrial development to a more competitive and demand-based approach. States with strong industrial potential, ready land availability, investor interest, and sector-specific advantages are expected to benefit the most.
Pankaj Mohindroo said the scheme’s competitive, state-driven model, supported by a transparent digital platform, would help create world-class industrial ecosystems featuring modern infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and investor-friendly processes.
He noted that the initiative has the potential to significantly enhance India’s appeal as a preferred destination for both domestic and global investors while supporting the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Industry experts believe that while plug-and-play industrial parks have become a key feature of successful manufacturing economies worldwide, India has lagged behind global standards in industrial infrastructure. BHAVYA is expected to address this gap and strengthen the country’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
According to Vimal Nadar of Colliers India, the scheme aims to create investment-ready industrial ecosystems with pre-approved land, ready infrastructure, and integrated services. This will reduce the time required to establish manufacturing facilities and boost demand for warehousing and logistics infrastructure around industrial parks.
Experts believe the BHAVYA scheme will encourage the emergence of new manufacturing centres, strengthen supply chains and logistics networks, and promote balanced economic development across the country.
