Khunti: It was an good idea when it was decided that to check corruption the ration distribution will be made online in the state but the same system has now become headache especially for those people who live in far-flung villages of the state and were clear weather is a must for the signals to work so that they can put their thumb impressions and take the food grains.
In Tilma panchayat of Khunti district villager, Kariya Munda and others often spend their day at the village ration shop waiting for the signal to come so that they can get their food grains. Kariya said that every day his son asks him as to when they will get full stomach lunch or dinner to which he only assures that unless the network comes they can not get the proper food. Same is the story of other villagers as due to rains the network in the area is not coming as the server is down.
Ration dealer Sunita Purty said that unless the thumb impression is made the ration can not be given as same is the provision in the online system. Like for the last few days, the villagers once again reached the shop for ration and were later found roaming on the roads in search of the network along with the antenna and the machine however all their efforts failed to bring any success for them following which all were denied ration once again.
Angry villagers said that their children were suffering but there was no improvement in the system and said that the manual system was better. The women who reached the spot said that they have left behind sowing season and coming to the shop for food grains which was hurting them.
