Gumla: Preparations are underway to operationalise three newly constructed Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Gumla district from November 15, 2026, following directions from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The initiative aims to strengthen access to quality residential education for tribal students in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahato chaired a review meeting to assess the readiness of the schools and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed before operations begin. The meeting was attended by the in-charge principals of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Sisai, Gumla, Bharno and Dumri, representatives of the executing agency Bridge and Roof, and the District Welfare Officer.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of building handovers, infrastructure facilities, essential arrangements and student admissions.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in handing over the Sisai school building despite construction having been completed nearly a year ago, Mahato directed the in-charge principal to coordinate with the executing agency, inspect the premises and get minor deficiencies rectified wherever necessary. He instructed the officials to complete the handover process within the next two days.

He also directed the executing agency to expedite the remaining infrastructure work at the EMRS campuses in Dumri and Bharno to ensure that the institutions are ready for students within the stipulated timeline.

The in-charge principals of all four schools—Sisai, Gumla, Bharno and Dumri—were asked to complete the student admission process at the earliest and submit updated admission details to the District Welfare Officer.

Emphasising coordination and accountability, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the District Welfare Officer, school principals and representatives of the executing agency to work together to put all essential arrangements in place. He also called for regular monitoring at their respective levels to prevent further delays.

All concerned officials and agency representatives were directed to adhere strictly to the deadlines and ensure that pending work is completed promptly so that the schools can begin functioning as scheduled.

The meeting was attended by the Project Director, District Welfare Officer and other concerned officials and staff members.
