Ranchi: Controversy surrounding alleged remarks by Bageshwar Dham head Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Baba, has reached Jharkhand, with an RJD leader submitting a written complaint at Dhurwa police station in Ranchi on Thursday, seeking legal action against the preacher.

RJD spokesperson Kailash Yadav filed the complaint, alleging that Shastri made objectionable remarks about the appearance and tribhangi posture of Lord Krishna during a Ram Katha programme held in Karera, Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the complaint, Shastri allegedly compared the appearances of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna and made remarks concerning Lord Krishna's distinctive standing posture, the positioning of his waist and neck, and his flute-playing. Yadav claimed that these comments had hurt the religious sentiments of devotees who worship Lord Krishna.

In his complaint, Yadav stated that Lord Ram and Lord Krishna are equally revered deities in Sanatan Dharma, each holding distinct religious and spiritual significance through their divine forms and teachings. He argued that glorifying one deity by allegedly belittling the appearance of another was unacceptable.

He urged the police to conduct an impartial investigation, register an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and initiate appropriate legal proceedings.

RJD Leader Demands Strict Action

After submitting the complaint, Yadav launched a sharp attack on Dhirendra Shastri, alleging that the preacher was pursuing an agenda of religious polarisation under the political protection of the BJP. He claimed that religious platforms were being used to influence sentiments and create divisions within society.

Yadav maintained that an apology alone would not be sufficient to address the alleged offence. He demanded strict legal action against Shastri and called for restrictions on his public programmes.

He further warned that he would approach the High Court if appropriate action was not taken in the matter.

According to Yadav, the complaint was submitted at around 1 pm in the presence of Hatia DSP Neeraj Kumar and Dhurwa police station officer-in-charge Anil Tiwari. He claimed that the DSP had directed Dhurwa police to take action under the relevant provisions of the BNS.

However, the allegations made in the complaint and the subsequent police action are yet to be independently confirmed through an official statement.

Several RJD leaders and supporters were present during the submission of the complaint, including district president Dharmendra Mahto, Ramkumar Yadav, Suresh Rai, Santosh Yadav, Vijay Singh, Manager Rai, Sanjay Yadav, Hardwar Yadav, Arun Kumar and Sikandar Rai.
