Ramgarh: With the festive season approaching, the Food Safety Department in Ramgarh has intensified inspections of sweet shops, hotels and other food establishments to ensure that consumers have access to safe and quality food products.
Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Rituraj, a special inspection drive was conducted under the leadership of Food Safety Officer Derick Tigga. The team inspected several hotels and sweet shops along the stretch from Kothar Flyover to Thana Chowk and Main Road in Ramgarh.
The establishments inspected included Hotel Nirala, Pawan Hotel, Mukhia Hotel and MR Sweets near Kothar Flyover; Vishuram Namkeen in Duba Khet; Shalimar Sweets, Raj Rasoi Next, Rasraj, Rajasthan Kalewalaya and Chowpati in Chatti Bazaar; and Gokul Sweets on Main Road.
Four Sweet Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing
During the inspection, officials collected four samples of sweets from two establishments for quality and food safety testing.
Two samples—kaju barfi and besan laddu—were collected from Raj Rasoi Next, while kalakand and kaju barfi samples were taken from Rajasthan Kalewalaya.
All four samples have been sent to the food safety laboratory for testing to determine whether they meet the prescribed quality and safety standards.
Shopkeepers Warned Against Using Expired Ingredients
The inspection team also examined the mandatory food safety-related documents maintained by the establishments. Food Safety Officer Tigga instructed shop owners and operators to maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene, avoid using expired ingredients and strictly refrain from using prohibited materials or beverages.
The department emphasised that maintaining food quality and hygiene is particularly important during the festive season, when demand for sweets and other food products increases significantly.
Officials said the inspection drive would continue across the district to prevent the sale of unsafe or substandard food items. Establishments found violating food safety regulations will face action in accordance with the law.
Food Safety Department officials Derick Tigga and Lukesh Rawani were part of the inspection team.
