Washington: The White House has vowed to defend President Donald Trump's policy agenda during the final two years of his presidency, warning that Democratic efforts to reverse his decisions on immigration, taxation, energy and other key issues would not succeed following the November 3 midterm elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (local time), the White House defended Trump's record and signalled that the administration was prepared for an intensifying political confrontation with Democrats. It also raised the possibility of another impeachment effort against the President, without identifying any specific proceeding or legislative proposal.

"In the final two years of his presidency, Democrats will try -- and fail -- to reverse everything President Trump has done," the statement said.

The administration described the coming political battle as an effort to protect policies implemented during Trump's presidency, arguing that voters had already rejected the opposition's agenda.

"These efforts will fail; the American people have already rejected this agenda," the White House said.

Immigration enforcement featured prominently in the statement, with the administration accusing Democrats of seeking to roll back border restrictions and large-scale deportations. However, it did not cite specific Democratic proposals or statements to substantiate these claims.

On the economic front, the White House defended Trump's tax cuts, crediting them with delivering record economic growth. It also highlighted what it described as record domestic energy production and American energy independence. However, the statement did not provide supporting figures, timelines or comparisons for these claims.

The administration also claimed that Trump's policies had resulted in the largest decline in violent crime in modern history, but offered no crime statistics or specific timeframe to support the assertion.

Another area of political contention highlighted in the statement was the administration's opposition to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes. The White House accused Democrats of wanting to restore such initiatives and reverse policies concerning transgender minors.

The statement further alleged that Democrats would attempt to rebuild censorship mechanisms and weaken government efforts to tackle waste, fraud and abuse, without identifying specific proposals behind these accusations.

The administration also criticised the possibility of expanding the US Supreme Court and predicted that Democrats could make another attempt to impeach Trump. However, it did not name any lawmakers pursuing such initiatives or point to a formal impeachment proposal.

Describing Trump's previous impeachment proceedings as unsuccessful political efforts, the White House maintained that any future attempts to challenge his policies or remove him from office would face similar resistance.

The statement concluded with a message underscoring the President's determination to continue defending his political agenda: "President Trump will never stop fighting."

The remarks signal that the remaining two years of Trump's presidency could see heightened political tensions between the White House and Democrats, particularly over immigration, economic policy, federal programmes and the powers of government.
