Jamshedpur, November 4, 2026: Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) today strengthened its diagnostic capabilities with the inauguration of the Revolution Maxima CT Scanner from GE HealthCare and an advanced Digital X-Ray System by D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel.
The Revolution Maxima is the only CT scanner of its kind in Jamshedpur and brings next-generation imaging technology to the region. The FDA-approved system offers 500-slice equivalent technology and unique 32 cm coverage, enabling faster, more precise and comprehensive imaging while supporting lower radiation exposure.
One of the scanner's key strengths lies in cardiac imaging. Within seconds and without the need for any injection, it can perform a CT Calcium Score assessment, helping doctors determine the amount of calcium buildup in the coronary arteries and evaluate the risk of future heart disease. The system also enables CT Coronary Angiography, where a contrast dye administered through a vein in the arm allows doctors to visualize narrowed or blocked coronary arteries without the need for an invasive catheter-based procedure.
Equipped with very fast gantry rotation and advanced motion-correction technology, the scanner delivers high-quality images of the beating heart. In addition, GE HealthCare's ASiR-V technology can reduce radiation dose by up to 82%, depending on the patient and the examination, while maintaining excellent image quality.
Beyond cardiac care, the scanner supports rapid diagnosis and evaluation of brain stroke, trauma and emergency cases, cancer, and a wide range of chest, abdominal and vascular conditions. The system also features a built-in 3D camera that enables quick and accurate patient positioning, helping complete most examinations within seconds and improving overall patient experience.
The CT system offers exceptional image quality with 0.28 mm resolution, enabling superior visualization of subtle tissue details. Its Advanced Dual Energy Technology further supports specialized applications such as brain angiography and metal artifact reduction, enhancing diagnostic confidence across clinical specialties.
Speaking on the occasion, D.B. Sundara Ramam highlighted the importance of continually upgrading healthcare infrastructure with advanced medical technologies to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. He noted that the addition of these systems would further strengthen MTMH's ability to provide high-quality, patient-centric diagnostic services.
MTMH also commissioned an advanced Digital X-Ray System designed to make imaging safer, faster and more efficient. The compact system features automatic stitching, positioning and tracking, along with remote-control functionality that enables smooth operation and workflow optimization.
The Digital X-Ray System offers multiple imaging capabilities, including Fluoroscopy, Digital Spot Imaging, High-Resolution X-rays and Cine Mode, providing comprehensive diagnostic support across various medical disciplines. It also includes an option for Dual Energy Imaging and is equipped with a built-in anti-collision safety system to enhance safety for both patients and healthcare professionals.
The introduction of these advanced imaging technologies marks a significant step in MTMH's commitment to delivering world-class healthcare through innovation, precision diagnostics and improved patient outcomes. The hospital noted that CT examinations, including cardiac scans such as CT Calcium Scoring and CT Coronary Angiography, should be undertaken only when advised by a qualified physician based on clinical evaluation and medical judgment.
