Ramgarh: An assessment camp was organised at the Chitarpur Block Office auditorium in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Wednesday to identify eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities for the provision of free assistive devices.
The camp was organised as part of a series of block-level assessment drives initiated under the directions of the Jharkhand government and the special initiative of the Ramgarh district administration. The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) conducted the camp in collaboration with Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL).
A total of 134 applications were received during the camp. Officials assessed the needs and eligibility of applicants seeking assistance under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) scheme. Participants were also informed about the provisions of the schemes and the documents required to avail themselves of the benefits.
Under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, eligible senior citizens aged 60 years and above are provided with free assistive devices according to their individual needs.
Similarly, under the ADIP scheme, eligible persons with disabilities having 40 per cent or more disability are assessed for assistive devices suited to their requirements.
The Ramgarh district administration has urged all eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities across the district to attend assessment camps scheduled in their respective blocks on the designated dates, carrying the necessary documents.
The administration has also appealed to public representatives, citizens and members of various social groups to spread awareness about the initiative so that no eligible beneficiary misses out on assistance due to a lack of information.
