Patratu: With Diwali and other upcoming festivals approaching, police in the Patratu subdivision of Jharkhand's Ramgarh district have stepped up preparations to maintain law and order and prevent criminal activities. A monthly crime review meeting was held at the Sub-Divisional Police Office on Wednesday under the chairmanship of SDPO Raghavendra Sharma.
Police station-wise reviews of registered criminal cases were conducted during the meeting. Sharma directed all station in-charges to expedite investigations and ensure the timely disposal of pending cases.
He also instructed officers to intensify patrolling in their respective jurisdictions and maintain special vigilance in markets and other crowded places. The directions included keeping a close watch on active criminal gangs, launching special drives to arrest people facing pending warrants and conducting regular vehicle-checking operations.
The SDPO emphasised that maintaining law and order during the festive season would remain the police's top priority and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.
The meeting also focused on curbing gambling and the illegal liquor trade. Sharma said reports of gambling activities during Diwali had come to the police's notice and directed officers to take immediate action against those involved in organising or participating in such activities.
He further instructed police personnel to act strictly against illegal liquor sellers and shopkeepers violating prescribed rules. All station in-charges were asked to maintain continuous surveillance and respond promptly to information about unlawful activities.
The meeting was attended by Patratu police station in-charge Vikas Aryan, Bhurkunda in-charge Shivlal Gupta, Barkakana in-charge Roshan Bara, Bhadaninagar in-charge Md Akhtar Ali and Basal police station Sub-Inspector Bipin Bihari Singh.
