Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahto has directed officials of the District Social Welfare Department to ensure that all Anganwadi centres have essential facilities and that pending cases under various welfare schemes are resolved promptly.

The directions were issued during a review meeting held at the Collectorate to assess the implementation of social welfare schemes, the delivery of nutrition services, the condition of Anganwadi centres and progress in clearing pending cases.

During the meeting, Mahto reviewed the functioning of Anganwadi centres and sought updates from women supervisors on centres operating under the geographical demarcation system. He asked the officials concerned to clarify the status of the centres and address issues affecting their functioning.

The Deputy Commissioner specifically directed officials to ensure that Anganwadi centres operating from rented buildings have fully functional electricity connections, toilets, drinking water facilities and kitchens. He stressed that adequate infrastructure and regular monitoring were essential to maintain the quality of services provided to women and children through these centres.

Mahto also emphasised achieving 100 per cent of the prescribed targets under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and the Kanya Kanyadan Yojana. Expressing dissatisfaction with the progress recorded under the Palkot project, he asked the officials concerned to improve implementation and ensure that the expected targets were met.

The meeting also reviewed findings from an inspection and visit to the One Stop Centre conducted by the Assistant Director of Social Welfare, Ranchi, on October 7 and 8, 2026. Officials were briefed on the observations, activities and achievements recorded during the visit.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed all women supervisors to conduct regular inspections of Anganwadi centres under their respective jurisdictions, identify shortcomings and take the necessary corrective measures. He stressed that effective monitoring and timely action were crucial to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries received the intended benefits of government schemes.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Animesh Ranjan, District Social Welfare Officer Aarti Kumari, the Assistant Director of Social Welfare, an assistant branch officer, consultant Mrityunjay Nayak, Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and women supervisors from the concerned projects.
