Emperia Marathas continued their winning run in the Volleyball Champions League (VCL), defeating Rajasthan Spikers 2-1 at the Noida Indoor Stadium. In the day's second fixture, Haryana Hurricanes also registered a 2-1 victory, overcoming Delhi Dynamites.
The Marathas made a strong start against Rajasthan, winning the first two sets 21-18 and 21-19 to take a commanding 2-0 lead. However, Rajasthan fought back in the third set, stepping up their intensity to win it 21-18.
Despite Rajasthan's late fightback, the Marathas had done enough in the opening two sets to secure the match and add another victory to their campaign.
Rajasthan Spikers' Aniket was named Player of the Match, while Emperia Marathas' Ashique V Alan received the Impact Player award.
Reflecting on the win, Ashique said he was pleased to contribute to the team's success. He noted that the Marathas had controlled the match early by winning the first two sets and remained composed despite Rajasthan's response in the third.
The team, he added, would take the positives from the performance and aim to maintain its momentum in upcoming matches.
In the second match of the day, Haryana Hurricanes defeated Delhi Dynamites 2-1 after winning the first two sets 21-20 and 21-19.
Haryana looked well placed to complete a straight-sets victory, but Delhi mounted a fightback in the third set, winning it 21-14. The comeback, however, came too late to prevent the Hurricanes from sealing the match.
Haryana's Chirag Yadav was named Player of the Match for his performance, while teammate Tariq Saqlain received the Impact Player award.
Chirag described the result as a team effort, saying Haryana had focused on remaining calm during crucial points and executing its plans effectively.
He said winning the opening two sets had given the team confidence, adding that the Hurricanes were satisfied with the victory and would look to build on the performance in their next match.
