The Deoghar branch of the Indian Red Cross Society collected five units of blood at a voluntary donation camp organised at the Sadar Blood Bank near Tower Chowk under its ‘Blood Donation on Wheels’ initiative.
The camp was held to mark the 82nd birthday of Mofatraj Munot, chairman of Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. Five donors came forward to contribute to the initiative aimed at supporting patients who require blood transfusions.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting a ceremonial lamp in the presence of Red Cross vice-chairman Piyush Jaiswal, life member Jyoti Kumari, Kalpataru Projects Assistant General Manager and project in-charge Mesimany Veerababu, Administration Manager Mrinal and Safety Manager Ranjit Kumar.
Addressing the gathering, Veerababu said serving society was one of the important purposes of human life. He thanked the organisers and donors for their participation and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting similar social welfare initiatives.
Red Cross chairman Jitesh Rajpal highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation, noting that donated blood can help save the lives of patients undergoing treatment and those facing medical emergencies.
Jaiswal also encouraged healthy individuals to donate blood regularly, subject to medical eligibility and prescribed safety standards. He stressed the importance of public participation in maintaining an adequate blood supply for patients in need.
The five donors were Rajiv Kumar Jha, Rajiv Jha, A. Pramod, Chandrashekhar and Gautam Kumar. Employees of Kalpataru Projects and local residents also contributed to the successful organisation of the camp.
The initiative highlighted the role of voluntary blood donation in strengthening local healthcare support and encouraged greater community participation in life-saving humanitarian activities.
