Deoghar Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut has directed officials to launch a strict drive against encroachments on government and municipal land, while ensuring effective legal representation in pending court cases involving the Municipal Corporation.

The directions were issued during an emergency-cum-special meeting of the Municipal Corporation’s standing committee at the civic body’s office on Friday. The meeting reviewed development projects, revenue collection, municipal finances and measures to protect public properties. The Additional Municipal Commissioner and ward councillors who are members of the committee attended.

Expressing concern over encroachments on public and municipal properties, the committee reviewed pending court cases related to the corporation. Raut instructed the legal wing and concerned officials to pursue these cases effectively and take appropriate action to remove unauthorised occupation of government land.

The committee also examined funds allocated under various state and central government schemes for the 2026-27 financial year, along with approved development projects and expenditure incurred so far. The Mayor directed officials to complete ongoing civic works within the stipulated deadlines and maintain the prescribed quality standards.

Revenue collection up to the second quarter of the financial year was another key item on the agenda. Officials reviewed receipts from holding tax, water tax, trade licence fees and other municipal charges.

Raut directed the concerned departments to expedite the recovery of outstanding dues, particularly from major defaulters. He also called for a concrete plan to strengthen the corporation’s own revenue sources and improve its financial capacity to deliver civic services and undertake development projects.

The meeting focused on improving administrative efficiency, safeguarding municipal assets, ensuring timely completion of public works and strengthening revenue collection to support Deoghar’s civic development.
