
Police have arrested four people in connection with the alleged robbery of ?1.5 lakh from a man near Marni bridge in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district. The arrests were announced by Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar during a media briefing on Friday.
According to police, the incident took place on September 22 when Sagir Ansari, a resident of Panchrukhi, was returning home from Madhupur. As he approached Marni bridge in the Margomunda area, five men riding two motorcycles allegedly intercepted him, forced him to stop and fled with his bag containing approximately ?1.5 lakh.
Following the incident, police formed a special investigation team under the supervision of Madhupur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Satyendra Prasad. The team conducted raids and pursued leads that resulted in the arrest of four suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sajan Kumar Ravani, Mohammad Alamgir Sheikh, Mohammad Juwed Sheikh and Mohammad Sanwar Hussain. All four are residents of Lalgarh under Madhupur police station limits.
During the operation, police recovered ₹22,800 in cash, three mobile phones and two motorcycles, an Apache and a Hero Splendor, allegedly used in the robbery. Investigators are also examining the recovered items as part of the ongoing probe.
Police records indicate that Sajan Kumar Ravani has four previous cases registered against him between 2020 and 2025, involving allegations of assault, theft and other offences. Sanwar Hussain also has a previous case registered at Patharol police station.
The operation involved personnel from Madhupur and Margomunda police stations, including Madhupur Circle Inspector Rautu Honhaga, Margomunda officer-in-charge Shashi Kapoor, Patharol officer-in-charge Dilip Kumar Bilung and Lakshman Bobonga of Margomunda police station.
Police said efforts are continuing to recover the remaining stolen money and establish the identity and role of the fifth suspect allegedly involved in the crime.
The case highlights the importance of coordinated investigation and follow-up raids in robbery cases, particularly when multiple suspects and vehicles are involved.
