Gandhi Jayanti 2026: Gumla Polytechnic College Remembers Gandhi and Shastri

Gumla Polytechnic College celebrated the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2, 2026, with a commemorative programme held at the main office of the college’s administrative building.

The event was attended by Principal Dr Shiba Narayan Sahu, Chief Administrative Officer Ajit Kumar Shukla, heads of departments, faculty members and students. They paid floral tributes to the two national leaders by garlanding their portraits and offering flowers in remembrance of their contributions to the nation.

On the occasion, the college community recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle and his enduring commitment to truth and non-violence. Lal Bahadur Shastri was remembered for his simplicity, honesty, dedication to duty and unwavering spirit of national service.

The programme highlighted the lasting relevance of the values upheld by both leaders, including truth, non-violence, discipline, integrity and devotion to the country.

The gathering also served as an opportunity for students and faculty members to reflect on how these ideals can be incorporated into everyday life. The college emphasised the importance of nurturing responsible, compassionate and dedicated citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society and the nation’s development.
