Actress Tanishaa Mukerji is set to make her return to the big screen with filmmaker Kapil Kaustubh Sharma’s upcoming film “Zindagi Phir Bhi Khoobsurat Hai”, a story centred on relationships, changing times and the emotional beauty of everyday life.
Speaking about casting Tanishaa in the film, Kapil said her emotional sensitivity and ability to bring depth to a character were important for a story that moves through different stages of life.
“Tanishaa is an actor who has a certain emotional quality that was very important for this character. The story moves across different stages of life, and I wanted someone who could bring honesty and depth to that journey,” he said.
Calling the project a personal film, Kapil added that Tanishaa brought a distinctive sensitivity to her role.
The film is set within Mumbai’s Parsi community and spans the period from the 1990s to 2025. It combines romance, humour and emotional elements while exploring the changing lives and relationships of its characters.
To maintain authenticity, portions of the film were shot inside real Parsi homes in South Mumbai and Dadar Parsi Colony. Kapil also worked closely with members of the community during production to accurately portray its culture, lifestyle, mannerisms and dialect.
Kapil has taken on multiple responsibilities for the project. Besides writing and directing the film, he is also its producer and plays the central Parsi character. His character's story unfolds across different phases of his life, and Kapil underwent a physical transformation to portray the older version.
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Sushmita Mukherjee, Kitu Gidwani, Pervein Dastur, Delnaaz Irani, Tanaaz Irani, Shahrukh Sirus Irani, Dolly Thakore and Ananya Dutta, alongside Tanishaa.
“Zindagi Phir Bhi Khoobsurat Hai” is expected to be presented at international film festivals before its theatrical release.
Tanishaa was last seen in the 2024 film “Luv You Shankar”. She has also remained a familiar television personality, having reached the finale of “Bigg Boss 7” and “Khatron Ke Khiladi 7”, besides later appearing on “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11”.
The upcoming film marks another chapter in her screen career, with the project bringing together a story rooted in Mumbai’s Parsi community and a narrative that follows its characters across several decades.
