BJP to Hold Four-Day Protest Across Jharkhand Over Recruitment Exam Irregularities

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a four-day statewide protest in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations and cases registered against students who took part in protests. The agitation will be held from September 8 to 11 across all 24 district headquarters, with party workers planning demonstrations and the gherao of offices of deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs).

The BJP has demanded an impartial investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and other agencies. The party is also seeking the arrest of those allegedly responsible for irregularities and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

Another major demand is the withdrawal of cases registered against students who participated in peaceful protests over the recruitment examinations.

BJP state general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri said the party had earlier given the state government an ultimatum to withdraw the cases against the students. A senior BJP delegation had also conveyed the party's demands to the government through the chief secretary.

However, the party claims that no positive action was taken within the stipulated period. The BJP subsequently decided to launch the statewide agitation.

Senior leaders assigned charge of districts

BJP state president Aditya Sahu has assigned senior party leaders to oversee the protests in different districts.

Aditya Sahu will lead programmes in Ranchi on September 8, Seraikela on September 9 and Khunti on September 11.

Babulal Marandi will oversee protests in Dumka on September 8, Pakur on September 9, Sahibganj on September 10 and Godda on September 11.

Raghubar Das has been assigned Hazaribagh on September 8, Dhanbad on September 10 and Lohardaga on September 11.

Madhu Koda will oversee the protests in Jamshedpur on September 8, Bokaro on September 9 and Ramgarh on September 11.

Sameer Oraon has been given responsibility for Simdega on September 9, Gumla and Chaibasa on September 10, and Giridih on September 11.

Other senior leaders have also been assigned districts. Sanjay Seth will oversee the programme in Garhwa on September 8, while Ravindra Rai will be in Chatra on September 10 and Jamtara on September 11.

Deepak Prakash will lead the party's programme in Palamu on September 9 and Latehar on September 10. Naveen Jaiswal has been assigned Koderma on September 9, while Neera Yadav will oversee the protest in Deoghar on September 11.

District-wise protest schedule

The BJP has divided the statewide agitation into four days.

September 8: Ranchi, Dumka, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Jamshedpur and Garhwa.

September 9: Koderma, Sahibganj, Bokaro, Palamu, Simdega and Chaibasa.

September 10: Seraikela, Pakur, Dhanbad, Gumla, Latehar and Chatra.

September 11: Ramgarh, Deoghar, Lohardaga, Khunti, Godda and Jamtara.

According to the party, demonstrations will be held at the respective district headquarters, followed by plans to gherao the offices of the DCs and SPs.

District coordinators appointed

The BJP has also appointed district-level coordinators to ensure that the protests are conducted in a coordinated manner.

Ganesh Mishra has been assigned Ranchi and Deoghar, while Balmukund Sahay will coordinate the programme in Seraikela. Nilkanth Singh Munda will be responsible for Khunti, Sunil Soren for Dumka and Krishna Mahato for Pakur.

Anant Ojha has been assigned Sahibganj, while Dilip Verma will coordinate the programmes in Godda and Dhanbad. Bhanu Pratap Shahi will oversee Hazaribagh, Garhwa and Palamu.

Amit Singh will coordinate Lohardaga, Muneshwar Sahu Simdega and Manir Oraon Gumla. Saroj Singh has been given responsibility for Giridih, Geeta Koda for Chaibasa and Abha Mahato for Jamshedpur.

Amar Kumar Bauri will coordinate the protest in Bokaro, Rakesh Prasad in Ramgarh, Amardeep Yadav in Chatra and Sunil Soren in Jamtara. Manir Oraon will also oversee Latehar, while Shalini Baisakhiar has been assigned Koderma.

BJP seeks to turn student issue into statewide campaign

The BJP has sought to make the recruitment examination issue a broader political campaign by positioning itself alongside students demanding action over alleged irregularities.

The party has accused the state government of failing to adequately address concerns surrounding recruitment examinations and of not withdrawing cases against protesting students. It has maintained that the agitation is intended to press the government to take action on both issues.

The four-day programme, beginning Tuesday, is expected to bring the issue to the centre of political attention across Jharkhand. With demonstrations planned simultaneously across all 24 districts, the BJP is seeking to build pressure on the state government while highlighting what it describes as the concerns of thousands of job aspirants.
